HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – HMSA confirmed Tuesday that customer data was compromised in a recent cyberattack.
In the latter half of last year, hackers targeted the company “Navvis” — a vendor partner of HMSA.
It’s now believed personal data, including health and medical information were affected and includes both current and former HMSA members.
While the total number of members affected is still not known at this time, Navvis says they are in the process of notifying people potentially impacted and will be offering services such as free credit monitoring.
In a statement, HMSA’s chief security information officer said in part: “Protecting our members’ confidential information and privacy is of the utmost importance to us. We’re doing everything we can to fully understand the extent of this incident and to make sure our member information is secure.”
Affected members are encouraged to call 1-888-996-4022 between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Central, Monday through Friday, or go to navvishealthcare.com/privacy-update.
